Medium Voltage Panel VCB Design

In a power system network, transmission and distribution feeders are classified based on the voltage levels such as Low Voltage(LV) Feeders, Medium Voltage(MV) Feeders, High Voltage(HV) Feeders, etc. All the load centers(Industries, Commercial, Agriculture, Residential, etc,.) are connected to one or more feeders available in the power system. To provide a reliable supply to load centers, proper switching and protection should be done at various levels. This can be achieved with the help of electrical panels. The electrical panels are classified into various types based on the voltage levels. The panels which are used to control and protect the low voltage feeders are called low voltage panels. These panels are usually called LT Panels. The panels which are used to control and protect the medium voltage feeders are called MV Panels. These Panels are usually called VCB panels. The panels which are used to control and protect the high and extra-high voltage feeders are called Control and Relay panels.

This course is designed to provide training on MV Panels. MV panels or VCB Panels are a type of circuit breaker where an arc quenching occurs in a vacuum environment. In this panel, all the switchyard elements are placed inside the panel. The switchyard elements are the current transformer, Potential transformer, circuit breaker, etc. All the control elements are also placed inside of this panel. These panels are used in various applications like oil and gas industries, Steel industries, cement industries, etc.

In this course, the detailed training of the VCB panel, elements used in VCB Panels, Protection/tripping sequence, control of MV feeder, electrical drawing of VCB panel, etc., will be provided.
